A Note from the Artist...
I painted my piece of art on the Mission Intention Working for Justice. My painting depicts Muslim women who are refugees and who are imprisoned in camps (sometimes for many years) because they have lost the ability to be safe in their own homelands. They face injustice, discrimination and the loss of their families and friends and so much uncertainty yet somehow, they manage to keep their faith and hope alive. Before I retired, I worked as an advocate for many years and saw many instances of injustice and inequality particularly for women not just in refugee work but in is all aspects of our societies where money and power speak, and women remain disempowered and voiceless. I am grateful for the opportunity to voice my fears and concerns on injustice through art.
